Ethiopian Parliament Unanimously Approves New Cabinet

The seventh Ethiopian House of People's Representatives unanimously approved Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's new cabinet on October 8, 2026. The session, which lasted approximately one hour, resulted in the confirmation of all 22 ministerial appointments without opposition. This legislature features the largest opposition presence since 2005, with 48 members representing opposition parties and independent candidates alongside the ruling Prosperity Party. Despite the presence of these 48 non-ruling party MPs, no objections were raised during the proceedings. Only one independent member of parliament posed a question before the approval was finalized.
