Drone strikes in Amhara and Tigray kill schoolchildren and civilians

Drone strikes in Ethiopia's Amhara and Tigray regions killed schoolchildren and civilians on October 20, according to reports. In the South Gondar Zone of the Amhara region, a strike on Sana Elementary School in Dera Woreda killed at least six schoolchildren and injured more than 20 others.

Separately, a drone strike in Finaruo village, in the Saharti Samre Woreda of Tigray’s Southeastern Zone, killed four people and injured six others. According to local residents, the victims were targeted while loading livestock onto a truck. These incidents occur amid ongoing renewed fighting between federal forces and armed groups in both regions, contributing to rising civilian casualties.
