Israel’s first ambassador to Somaliland presents credentials in Hargeisa

Israel’s first ambassador to Somaliland, Michael Lotem, has officially presented his credentials to President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, also known as Cirro, in Hargeisa. This diplomatic milestone follows Israel’s formal recognition of the breakaway territory. The presentation of credentials solidifies diplomatic ties between the two entities, marking a significant development in Somaliland's quest for international legitimacy. Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in 1991 but has yet to receive broad international recognition. The move by Israel is considered a notable shift in the regional geopolitical landscape.
