PM Abiy Ahmed Inaugurates New Precious Minerals Refinery in Addis Ababa

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially inaugurated a new precious minerals refinery located in the Bole Lemi Industrial Park, Addis Ababa. Developed through a partnership between the Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Sam Precious Metals, the facility is capable of refining over 600 tons of precious minerals annually. The Prime Minister stated that this national refinery aims to position Ethiopia as a regional hub for mineral refining, processing gold and other minerals from both domestic and international sources. By processing raw materials locally, the government expects to add significant value to exports, potentially doubling income from gold sales and supporting the jewelry industry. The refinery is projected to generate substantial foreign currency and create new employment opportunities.
