PM Abiy Ahmed Inaugurates Precious Minerals Refinery in Addis Ababa

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially inaugurated a major precious minerals refinery located in the Bole Lemi Industrial Park in Addis Ababa. Built through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Sam Precious Metals, the facility boasts an annual processing capacity of over 600 tons. The refinery aims to position Ethiopia as a regional hub for mineral refining, allowing African mining companies to process and certify their gold domestically rather than shipping it abroad. PM Abiy stated that the project will significantly boost export revenue, create jobs, and add value to local mineral products. He further emphasized that the facility is capable of supporting up to 80 billion dollars in annual exports, marking a key step in Ethiopia's industrial transformation.
