Getachew Reda: Tigray to be Administered by Federal Command Post, Election to Follow
Getachew Reda, advisor to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, announced that Tigray will be governed by a federal command post following the withdrawal of TPLF leaders from Mekelle and other cities. The command post is tasked with maintaining law and order, stabilizing the region, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and facilitating the return of displaced persons from Western Tigray. Reda stated that a regional election will be held within six months under the supervision of the National Electoral Board. He also noted that while some TPLF members may participate in reconstruction efforts, those held accountable for the renewed conflict will be excluded. Federal authorities and regional peace forces are now securing the area, and commercial flights to Mekelle have resumed.
