Faro Homosha Girls' Boarding School in Benishangul-Gumuz Reaches Finalists in Global Competition
Faro Homosha Girls' Boarding School, located in the Benishangul-Gumuz region of Ethiopia, has been selected as one of the top 10 finalists in a global competition organized annually by T4 Education. Dr. Disasa Maru, head of the Benishangul-Gumuz Region Education Bureau, confirmed to the BBC that the school was shortlisted for achieving remarkable academic results and delivering quality education despite challenging socio-economic conditions. Students at the school have consistently performed well in the national Grade 12 examinations, with 100% passing last year and 90% achieving passing marks this year. Founded in 2018 and supported by the Faro Foundation, the school currently accommodates up to 240 female students, covering full educational expenses starting from Grade 9 to overcome barriers to female education. The Faro Foundation also operates similar educational branches across Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, and Somalia, serving over 4,700 students. The next stage of the global competition involves a voting process to determine the top three winning schools.
