Senior former Tigray officials escape TPLF detention and join ENDF
Four senior former Tigray administration officials, including Lieutenant General Tadesse Worede, have escaped TPLF detention and joined the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF). The officials, who had been held in hotels across various towns near the Eritrean border including Axum and Adwa, reported being kept incommunicado. Colonel Tewelde Gebretinsae, former head of regional security, described the conditions of their detention as restrictive, noting that they were separated from families and prohibited from communicating with the outside world. He detailed that while they were not physically abused, they faced severe isolation and restricted access to basic supplies during their captivity. Their escape marks a significant development in the ongoing political and security landscape in the region as federal forces re-established control in Mekelle.
