TPLF Issues Warning Against Operations at Mekelle Airport
The TPLF has issued a strict warning against any operations at the Alula Aba Nega Airport in Mekelle. The group claimed that the federal government is utilizing the airport for military and logistical purposes, contrary to its civilian designation, and warned that any movement there would be treated as an act of terrorism. Prime Minister's advisor Getachew Reda condemned the statement, suggesting the TPLF intends to target civilian flights. Furthermore, the TPLF expressed strong opposition to the 'Interim Administration' recently established by the federal government for the Tigray region. They rejected the administration as a tool of the federal government lacking legal authority and warned that anyone cooperating with this new body would be held accountable as an affiliate of the Prosperity Party. The federal government maintains that the interim body is tasked with restoring basic services, facilitating elections, and rehabilitating displaced citizens until a democratically elected regional government is formed.
