Jordan Conducts Airstrikes on Syrian Territory
Jordan has conducted airstrikes inside Syrian territory, stating it is a retaliatory action for last week's shooting at a Christian funeral in Karak, Jordan, which left nine people dead. While Jordanian military sources claim to have struck and killed several "terrorist" targets, Syrian officials reported that five civilians, including women and children, were killed in the strikes in the Daraa governorate. Amid rising tensions, Jordan has announced the closure of the Jaber-Naseeb border crossing to all travel and trade to ensure security. Jordan's Interior Minister, Mazen Al-Faraya, confirmed that the perpetrators of the original church attack were Jordanians and have been apprehended. Authorities from both nations have initiated direct communication to investigate the recent escalation.
