Kenya High Court orders resumption of asylum registration for Eritreans and Ethiopians
The High Court of Kenya has ordered the government to immediately resume the registration of asylum seekers from Eritrea and Ethiopia, declaring the year-long suspension illegal and discriminatory. The court ruling overturns a directive effective since July 2025 that blocked these nationals from entering Kenya's asylum system. The government has been ordered to report on the implementation of this ruling within 60 days.
