Ethiopia Launches New Trader Guide and Digital Portal to Support AfCFTA Trade
Ethiopia is taking concrete steps to streamline cross-border trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by introducing a new comprehensive resource framework. Key stakeholders, including representatives from the government, the private sector, and international development partners, have formally validated a new Step-by-Step Guide for Trading in Goods. Alongside the practical guide, a companion Trade Information Portal has been established to provide digital access to crucial trading procedures and regulations. This dual initiative is designed to address and close the persistent information gap that Ethiopian businesses face when attempting to export or import goods across continental borders. By offering a clear, practical roadmap, the tools aim to help commercial enterprises navigate complex customs requirements, tariff structures, and regulatory rules under the continental trade agreement. Ultimately, the new digital tools and documentation are expected to enhance Ethiopia's integration into the regional market and boost trade volumes with other African nations.
