Ethiopian Airlines to Resume Flights to Mekelle

Ethiopian Airlines has officially announced the resumption of its regular flights to Mekelle city, effective from October 11, 2026 (Tikimt 1, 2019 E.C). This decision follows a temporary suspension of services to the region due to recent challenges. Previously, the airline had halted flights to Mekelle, Shire, and Axum starting on September 22, 2026. While the schedule for Mekelle has been confirmed, the airline has not yet specified when flight services to Shire and Axum will recommence. The national carrier aims to restore connectivity to these northern hubs as conditions permit.
