Corporate Demand Could Support Up to 1.9 Million Tonnes of SAF by 2030
A new study released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Airbus, and Accenture projects that corporate demand could support between 1.0 million and 1.9 million tonnes of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by 2030. This figure represents a significant increase from the estimated 323,000 tonnes utilized in 2024. According to the report, this projected growth serves as a strong demand signal to incentivize further SAF production. However, the study identifies several barriers that could hinder this potential, including unclear accounting standards, high market prices, and the general complexity of the purchasing process. Addressing these hurdles is deemed essential for the aviation industry to effectively transition toward sustainable fuel alternatives.
