PM Abiy Ahmed Receives Fighter Jets and Air Defense Systems from Russia

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced that he has received Su-35 fighter jets and S-400 air defense systems from Russia following a bilateral agreement. During the handover ceremony in Moscow, the Prime Minister emphasized that Ethiopia is a country surrounded by many enemies, necessitating urgent military preparedness to safeguard national sovereignty and the airspace for future generations.

He highlighted that the S-400 system is capable of intercepting cruise missile attacks up to a range of 200 kilometers, marking a significant addition to the nation's defense capabilities. This acquisition is framed by the government as an essential step for the survival and security of the Ethiopian state.
