Ethiopian Water and Energy Week Focuses on Science, Policy and Implementation
The Ethiopian Water and Energy Week is scheduled to take place from October 26 to 30, 2026, at the Addis Ababa Science Museum. Held under the theme “Advancing Science-Based Policy and Partnerships for a Water and Energy Secure Future,” the event aims to bridge the gap between research and practical implementation. Michael Mehari, Senior Adviser to the Minister of Water and Energy, noted that the forum will convene policymakers, researchers, development partners, and private sector leaders to discuss sustainable resource management and investment mobilization.
The five-day event will focus on enhancing energy security, promoting the energy transition, and building climate resilience against risks like drought and flooding. A major objective is to establish a platform for policy dialogue and to attract investment for water and energy infrastructure and technological innovation. The program will feature high-level panel discussions, multi-stakeholder forums, and experience-sharing sessions to foster collaboration between universities and the private sector.
