Major General Yohannes Weldegiyorgis Reported Captured by ENDF

The Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) has reportedly captured Major General Yohannes Weldegiyorgis, also known as John Medid, within the Tigray region. General Yohannes served as a member of the TPLF's Central Command and led the Southern Front, which initiated an offensive on the Kobo front on September 23 with the stated goal of advancing toward Addis Ababa. Prior to joining the TPLF rebellion, he commanded the ENDF’s Western Command based in Bahir Dar.

Reports circulating a few weeks ago suggested the General had been sidelined by the TPLF amid suspicions regarding the rapid collapse of the front under his leadership. It remains unclear whether he surrendered to federal forces, was found in hiding, or was apprehended during combat operations.
