The high failure rate is attributed to factors such as aging vehicle stock and inadequate engine maintenance. This inspection campaign is part of broader efforts to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the capital. The bureau is expected to enforce stricter compliance measures for vehicles that fail to meet the required environmental standards moving forward.
