Local Elections Underway in Tigray Region

Woreda and kebele-level elections are currently underway across the Tigray Regional State, according to officials from the federally appointed interim administration. During the process, the interim administration has issued a call for an immediate halt to any activities that restrict public freedoms in border areas to ensure the voting process remains unimpeded. The administration emphasized the need for stability to allow the local elections to proceed effectively. In a separate development mentioned in the report, the Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (RSADO) has alerted the United Nations and the African Union regarding the hardships facing marginalized Afar communities living along Eritrea’s Red Sea coast and islands.
