House of Federation Elects New Speaker and Deputy Speaker

The House of Federation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has elected its new leadership. The House unanimously elected Muferihat Kamil as the new Speaker. Additionally, Desta Ledamo, the former President of the Sidama Region, was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House. The election took place on September 25, 2019 (Ethiopian calendar). The new leadership officially assumed their duties during the House's regular session.
