Tigray Region Security Situation and Mekelle City Updates

Mekelle city police officers have been ordered to return to work, with some already reporting for duty as the city shows signs of returning to normalcy and improved security. Meanwhile, the Ethiopian National Defense Force and the Tigray Peace Force have advanced into central, northwestern, and eastern zones of the region.

Reports indicate military movements towards Abyi Addi, Shire (Endaslasie), and Adigrat. AFP and ACLED have reported that drone strikes targeted Eritrean forces near Adigrat, resulting in the destruction of military vehicles. Witnesses state that following these strikes, Eritrean troops have been observed retreating towards the north and the Zalambessa border area.
