Trump Promises $5,000 to Every Adult American If Republicans Win Midterms

Donald Trump has announced a proposal to give $5,000 to every adult American citizen if the Republican Party wins control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections. Speaking at a Republican Party convention in Dallas, Texas, Trump specified that the funds must be spent exclusively within the United States. However, he did not provide specific details regarding how the plan would be implemented or where the funding would originate. With an estimated 270 million adult citizens in the US, fulfilling this pledge would cost approximately $1.3 trillion. The proposal has drawn swift criticism from Democrats, while legal experts have questioned its feasibility under current federal law. Others suggest the payout could potentially be framed through legislative measures such as tax cuts, recalling a previous proposal by Trump to distribute $2,000 funded by tariff revenues.
