Ethiopia Announces Closure of Its Embassy in Asmara
The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the decision to close its embassy in Asmara in response to what it describes as continuous direct and indirect provocations from Eritrea. Citing violations of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Ministry has declared 10 Eritrean diplomats 'persona non grata,' ordering them to leave Ethiopia within 48 hours.
The Ethiopian government has issued a stern warning for Eritrea to cease actions that contradict the principles of sovereign relations. Despite this diplomatic escalation, the Ministry emphasized that Ethiopia remains committed to its historical and cultural ties with the people of Eritrea and stated it will continue to work toward regional peace, security, and stability in East Africa.
