Ethiopia Closes Embassy in Asmara; Eritrean Diplomats Ordered to Leave

Ethiopia has decided to close its embassy in Asmara, citing direct and indirect hostile and provocative acts by Eritrea. Consequently, 10 Eritrean diplomats stationed in Ethiopia have been ordered to leave the country within 48 hours. The Ethiopian government cited these ongoing provocations as the primary reason for the decision.

In an official response, Eritrea announced it has severed all diplomatic relations with Ethiopia. This development, which occurred on Meskerem 21, 2019 E.C., marks a complete breakdown of official diplomatic ties between the two nations.
