Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority dissolved
The Addis Ababa City Council has decided to dissolve the Traffic Management Authority following a revised proclamation defining the powers and duties of city executive bodies. The authority's responsibilities will now be distributed among the City Transport Bureau, the Road Authority, and a newly established Transport Management Center. Officials stated the move aims to resolve governance issues and public complaints regarding fragmented traffic law enforcement.
The agency employs over 1,200 staff members, but officials confirm they have not yet received detailed implementation directives. Leadership indicated that the current reform studies do not yet clarify the future placement of the staff, and they are awaiting further guidance on the transition process.
