Holy Synod Confirms 60 Orthodox Faithful Killed in Oromia Attacks

The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has confirmed that 60 of its faithful were killed in recent attacks within the Oromia region. In a statement, the Church described the violence as "extremely tragic cruelty" and warned that the targeting of Orthodox Christians through killings, displacement, and property destruction is escalating, particularly in Arsi and surrounding areas. The Holy Synod has urgently called on government institutions to publicly condemn these atrocities. It further demanded that the government take immediate action to ensure civilian protection and bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice.
