Israel Election: Netanyahu Accuses Arab Parties of Foreign Interference
Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Arab parties participating in Israel's elections of stealing votes through funding from countries like Turkey and Qatar. Netanyahu's rivals, led by Gadi Eisenkot, and the Arab parties themselves have dismissed these allegations as fabricated attempts to undermine the election results. The Qatari government also condemned the claims, describing them as "baseless and malicious" defamation.
Israel's domestic security agency, Shin Bet, is investigating the claims but has indicated that accusations targeting the entire Arab community are incorrect. Arab parties secured 19 seats in the 120-member Knesset, making them a significant factor in government formation. Netanyahu's Likud party and allies secured 53 seats, while Eisenkot's opposition bloc secured 48. Critics argue that Netanyahu is fueling these conspiracies to delegitimize the process after failing to secure a clear majority.
