Rwandan President Critic Killed in Uganda
Robert Kabera, a former Rwandan military sergeant known for criticizing President Paul Kagame, has been found murdered in Uganda. The 50-year-old was found decapitated, and Ugandan police have confirmed that the head is still missing. Kabera, who had 144,000 subscribers on YouTube for his critiques of Kagame, had sought asylum in Uganda fearing for his safety. The Rwanda National Congress (RNC) has demanded a thorough investigation into the killing. Kabera's wife has expressed fear for her own life following the murder. This event raises serious concerns regarding the safety of Rwandan political dissidents living abroad. It follows the 2014 assassination of former Rwandan intelligence chief Patrick Karegeya in South Africa.
