Houthi Movement Expanding Influence Across Red Sea into Horn of Africa, Reports Reveal
The Yemeni Houthi movement is expanding its geopolitical footprint and influence across the Red Sea and into the Horn of Africa following its strategic gains near the Bab el-Mandeb strait. The reports further highlight Houthi presence and activities in Sudan, where they have reportedly provided light weapons support, as well as efforts to rebuild ties in Eritrea and Djibouti. While a Houthi official dismissed UN findings as biased, experts note that despite ideological differences between Zaidi Shia Houthis and Sunni Al-Shabaab, practical financial and operational interests are driving this regional security shift.
