PM Abiy Ahmed Inaugurates Precious Metal Refinery in Addis Ababa

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art precious metal refinery located in the Bole Lemi Industrial Park in Addis Ababa. The facility, a partnership between Ethiopia Investment Holdings and Sam Precious Metals, has the capacity to refine over 600 tons of precious metals annually. Designed to position Ethiopia as a regional hub for mineral refining, the plant aims to prevent the loss of value associated with exporting raw commodities. The Prime Minister noted that this initiative will boost export revenue, create employment opportunities, and support the domestic jewelry industry. Additionally, the facility is capable of recovering other valuable minerals, such as silver, from materials previously discarded as waste.
