Ethiopia and Belgium Celebrate 120 Years of Diplomatic Relations in Brussels

Ethiopia and Belgium celebrated 120 years of diplomatic relations with various events in Brussels, including a seminar focusing on academic and research cooperation. Christine Verbruggen, director of the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR-UOS), stated that Belgium has invested 62 million Euros in Ethiopian higher education over the past 25 years. While cooperation faced interruptions due to the war and security concerns in northern Ethiopia, 25 joint projects are currently active. Officials confirmed that Ethiopia remains a priority country for Belgian academic collaboration moving forward.
