Ethiopian People's Forces Coalition Accuses Government of Violence
The Ethiopian People’s Forces Coalition has accused the government of direct and indirect involvement in the killing and displacement of civilians in Wellega, Arsi, Moyale, and Gambella. The group alleged in a statement that since August, thousands have been killed in East Wellega and over 80,000 ethnic Amharas have been displaced from their homes.
While the federal government has not directly responded to these claims, Oromia regional authorities have linked recent attacks in Arsi to armed insurgents. Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Armed Forces, has dismissed the coalition's goals. Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia has advised American citizens to avoid travel to the Amhara, Tigray, and Afar regions due to persistent security concerns.
