Expert Highlights Role of International Cooperation in Enhancing Ethiopia's Audit Quality

Muhammed Dabo, a Senior Manager at the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), stated that international cooperation is essential for Ethiopia to enhance its public audit quality and financial management. By participating in global and regional audit networks, Ethiopia can access technical expertise and best practices to strengthen its institutions. Dabo emphasized that while supreme audit institutions are crucial for safeguarding public funds, their impact depends on follow-up actions by other accountability pillars, such as parliament, the judiciary, and anti-corruption agencies. He noted that integrated efforts are necessary to effectively address financial irregularities. Furthermore, Dabo highlighted that Ethiopia has the potential to contribute significantly to regional audit development while refining its own national standards through continuous professional engagement.
