Tigray Interim Administration to Resume Civil Servant Salary Payments

The Tigray Interim Administration has announced that government employee salaries will resume starting October 30, 2019 E.C. Dr. Tewodros Aregay, the Chief Executive of the region’s Economy and Reconstruction Bureau, confirmed that financial preparations for the payments are complete. The salaries will be disbursed only to those civil servants who have officially reported for duty and are legally employed within government institutions. Officials state this initiative is a key step toward restoring public services and boosting staff morale in the region. The suspension of salaries for many months had previously caused severe economic hardship for employees and their families.
