Aliko Dangote Discusses African Investment and New Kenya Oil Refinery
Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has urged Africans to take control of the continent's development rather than relying on foreign entities. In an interview with the BBC following the launch of a $16 billion oil refinery project in Lamu, Kenya, he emphasized that Africans must invest in their own continent to unlock its potential. Dangote highlighted that the lack of movement of people, goods, and services remains a major obstacle, stressing the need for the full implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area. The new refinery project is expected to produce 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day upon completion. He argued that the continent possesses the youth, manpower, and natural resources necessary for growth, but requires a shift in mindset to move away from over-reliance on external investors.
