Founder of Matiwos Wondu Cancer Society, Wondwossen Bekele, passes away

Wondwossen Bekele, the founder and CEO of the Matiwos Wondu Cancer Society, has passed away at the age of 72. He died suddenly on September 24, 2019 (E.C.) while receiving treatment for liver cancer at Hallelujah Hospital. After losing his four-year-old son, Matiwos, to leukemia years ago, he established the foundation with the motto, "Even if we couldn't save Matiwos, we can save many other Matiwoses," and spent the last 22 years providing medical services to thousands of cancer patients. His funeral service is scheduled to take place on September 25, 2019 (E.C.) at Bole Debre Mihret St. Michael Church.
