Ethiopia informs UN of Eritrean invasion
Foreign Minister Dr. Gedion Timothewos has formally informed the UN Security Council that Eritrea has violated Ethiopia's sovereignty by invading its territory. The Minister reported that the Eritrean army has advanced 30 to 60 kilometers into Ethiopian soil, occupying three zones in the Tigray region using mechanized units. He stated that this action violates the UN Charter and leaves Ethiopia with no choice but to exercise its legal right to self-defense.
Dr. Gedion emphasized that Ethiopia has exercised patience regarding previous provocations, but the current situation demands defensive action. He urged the Security Council not to equate the two nations, declaring that Eritrea is the aggressor and Ethiopia is the victim, and affirmed Ethiopia's commitment to defending its territorial integrity.
