National Precious Metals Refinery Officially Begins Operations

The National Precious Metals Refinery, located in the Bole Lemi Industrial Park, has officially begun operations. Established through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Sam Precious Metals, the facility aims to enhance Ethiopia's role in the regional gold market. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that the refinery has the capacity to serve not only Ethiopia but the broader East African and continental markets. The facility is designed to offer internationally recognized refining and testing services, allowing neighboring countries and regional mining companies to process, certify, and sell their gold within the continent instead of exporting it elsewhere for processing. This development is expected to add value to the regional mining sector.
