Dr. Shishay Amare Appointed as Mayor of Mekelle

Dr. Shishay Amare has been appointed as the Mayor of Mekelle under the Tigray Interim Administration. The new mayor announced that his primary priorities will be maintaining peace and security in the city, providing humanitarian support, and delivering essential socio-economic services. He also confirmed that the federal government has committed to implementing a corridor development project in Mekelle, pledging to oversee the realization of this plan. Dr. Shishay emphasized that the mandate given by the federal government is a collective responsibility to be fulfilled with the residents of Mekelle. Previously, he served as the head of the Tigray Education Bureau and is one of the founding leaders of the recently formed Tigray Symret Party.
