6 Killed and Others Abducted in Armed Attacks in Arsi Zone

Six people have been killed and several others abducted in armed attacks across the Honkolo Wabe and Shirka districts in the Arsi Zone of the Oromia region, according to local church officials. Reports confirm that three people were killed in Honkolo Wabe on October 15, and three others were killed in the Shirka district between October 12 and 17. In the Shirka district, five individuals were abducted, one person sustained injuries and is receiving hospital care, and approximately 50 cattle were stolen by the armed groups. Church leaders expressed deep concern over the recurring security incidents, stating that these attacks have become a distressing routine that often goes unnoticed. The church diocese has released the names of the victims and those abducted, urgently calling on the government to ensure the security of the remaining population, provide a permanent solution to the violence, and assist displaced persons in returning to their homes.
