Ethio Telecom Denies False Rumor Regarding CEO Appointment

Ethio Telecom has officially denied a circulating social media rumor claiming that former Addis Ababa mayor Engineer Takle Uma has been appointed as the company's new CEO, replacing Frehiwot Tamiru. In a statement to Tikvah Ethiopia, the telecom provider clarified that no such appointment has taken place. The company confirmed that Ato Tariku Demise, previously the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has been assigned to lead the institution as Acting CEO. Ethio Telecom emphasized that this interim assignment followed internal procedures and noted that only the company's Board of Directors holds the legal authority to appoint a permanent CEO.
