Funeral service of Abune Lukas held

The funeral service for Abune Lukas, Archbishop of Setit Humera Welkait Tegede Diocese and former General Secretary of the Holy Synod, was held on October 22, 2026, at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa. His Holiness Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, attended the service and delivered a message of condolence. During his address, the Patriarch praised Abune Lukas as a dedicated servant who fulfilled his duties with faithfulness and served as a great teacher. Earlier in the farewell ceremony, his contributions to the strengthening of the Church, monastic schools, and his defense of the rights of the faithful were commemorated.
