Hailstorm damages over 200 hectares of crops in Janamora district

A hailstorm in the Saqba Kebele of Janamora district, North Gondar zone, has damaged over 200 hectares of crops. Barley, wheat, fava beans, peas, and lentils were among the crops severely affected by the heavy rain and hail.

Information obtained from the Janamora district office confirms that 424 farmers have been directly impacted by this natural disaster. The area had previously faced challenges due to climate change (El Niño), which had already caused drought conditions in more than 17 kebeles in the district, affecting livestock feed and agricultural output.
