Land administration activities temporarily suspended in Tigray Region

The Tigray Region Land Administration and Use Bureau has issued a circular ordering all urban and rural administrations in the region to suspend land-related activities. This decision was taken to address corruption and mismanagement in land administration and to prevent data theft. The directive indefinitely halts all new land transfers and licensing procedures. Furthermore, the circular mandates the sealing of record offices containing land tenure documents until further notice. Reports from Tikvah Ethiopia indicate that the Hawelti sub-city administration in Mekelle has already begun implementing this order by sealing its record offices.
