Regional Transport Workshop Opens in Addis Ababa to Boost Africa's E-Commerce Logistics

A three-day regional transport workshop organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and Ethio Post officially opened in Addis Ababa. The event brings together postal operator executives from various African countries, aviation experts, logistics leaders, and representatives from Ethiopian Airlines. The workshop focuses on modernizing Africa's postal and e-commerce supply chain infrastructure by improving coordination between air cargo logistics and ground distribution networks. Speakers at the opening ceremony included Ethio Post CEO Dagmawi Hailyeku and UPU Director of Development and Cooperation Mutua Mutusi, who highlighted the sector's shift toward driving cross-border e-commerce. A central objective of the gathering is to position Ethiopia as a leading African logistics hub by integrating Ethiopian Airlines' global network with Ethio Post's distribution framework. The workshop will conclude with practical field visits to Ethiopian Airlines' cargo hub and Ethio Post's international mail exchange center.
