Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission to Present 400 Recommendations to Authorities

Ethiopian National Dialogue Commissioner, Professor Mesfin Araya, announced that the Commission will submit 400 policy recommendations to relevant government bodies by September 10, 2019 (Ethiopian Calendar). These recommendations are intended to serve as inputs for decision-making by the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, rather than binding decisions themselves. The recommendations were synthesized from various representatives across the country. Regarding the Tigray region, the Commissioner stated that due to current circumstances, collected agendas will be submitted to the Federal Government for processing. The Commission has utilized approximately 16 million USD in foreign aid to date. While the Commissioners are scheduled to conclude their tenure on October 15, 2019, the office will remain operational afterward to finalize auditing and document archiving duties.
