Gifata Festival Celebrated in Wolayta Sodo

The Wolayta New Year, Gifata, is being celebrated in Wolayta Sodo with special events for the first time since receiving UNESCO intangible cultural heritage status. The celebration has drawn guests from across Ethiopia and abroad.

The festival includes exhibitions of traditional clothing, food, and arts, as well as academic symposia and a drone show. Additionally, the first phase of a stair climbing project on Mount Damota was inaugurated. The festival will conclude tomorrow with a main ceremony at Wolayta Stadium.
