Seven Armed Groups and Political Organizations Announce New Alliance

Seven armed groups and political organizations, including TPLF, Fano, and the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), announced the formation of a new alliance called the 'Ethiopian Popular Forces Alliance for Survival' on September 20, 2026 (Meskerem 10, 2019 E.C.). The alliance also includes the Ogaden National Liberation Front, the Afar National Revolutionary Democratic Front, the Benishangul People's Liberation Movement, and the Gumuz People's Democratic Movement.

Fano leader Zemene Kassie announced in a statement broadcast on Tigray TV that he has been appointed as the chairman of the coalition. The group declared that their primary objective is to facilitate the establishment of an inclusive transitional government governed by a transitional charter.
