Veteran Ethiopian Singer Girma Negash Passes Away at 83

Veteran Ethiopian singer Girma Negash has passed away at the age of 83 at his residence, according to a report by Sheger FM 102.1 citing his family. The artist passed away around 7:00 PM while receiving home care treatment from visiting nurses. Born in 1936 EC in the Fit Ber area of Addis Ababa, Girma served the music industry for many years through the Police Orchestra and the Ethiopian National Theatre (formerly Emperor Haile Selassie I Theatre). He gained widespread popularity for classic songs such as 'Mnew Tleyeshign', 'Yene Hasab', 'Engenagnalen', and 'Albeqagnm Gena'. Girma was a father of three sons and one daughter. His funeral service is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 11:00 AM local time at the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Menbere Tsebaot Kidist Selassie Cathedral) in Addis Ababa.
