Patriarch of Indian Malankara Orthodox Church Welcomed in Ethiopia

His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, Patriarch of the Malankara Orthodox Church of India, has arrived in Ethiopia and received a warm spiritual reception at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa. The ceremony was attended by His Holiness Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, who welcomed the guest and emphasized the need for regular interaction between the two ancient sister churches. Abune Mathias recalled his visit to India ten years ago and requested prayers for Ethiopia during the Patriarch's stay. In response, Patriarch Mathews III stated that nowhere in his global apostolic journeys had he received such a warm and moving reception. He added that future collaboration between the two churches will focus on student and teacher exchanges at the seminary level to enhance cooperation in theology, culture, and liturgy.
